The Potential Problems of Playing Gamecube Games on the Wii
by webmaster on Oct.08, 2010, under Game Cube
The Nintendo GameCube is the successor to the Nintendo 64 and the predecessor of the Wii with compact system and is least expensive. Shaped roughly like a cube, the console is available in a variety of colors, such as indigo, platinum, and black.
With the introduction of the Nintendo Wii many gamers were enjoying themselves the thought of playing Nintendo GameCube games too but unfortunately there were some potential playing Nintendo GameCube on the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo GameCube does not have DVD or audio CD support and the reason cited is to reduce copyright infringement, provide faster loading times due to a smaller disc size, make the system cheaper by avoiding DVD-licensing fees, and a more compact console. This is one of the great disadvantage due to which many turned to the PlayStation 2 and Xbox due to their built-in DVD support.
One of the main disadvantages that come with playing GameCube games on the Wii is that you cannot always save your game, which is a big problem with adventure style games, which take quite a long time to complete. In order to save the game the player needs to purchase a Nintendo GameCube memory card that will enable the player to save any GameCube game on Wii. In order to play GameCube games on your Nintendo Wii then the player needs to purchase a GameCube controller if you do not have one. Since
the controllers for the two consoles are completely different therefore the problem still remains unsolved because if you attempted to play a GameCube game with a Nintendo Wii controller, it simply would not work. Therefore it is wise for any GameCube game players to ensure they have some of the GameCube accessories before they use the games on their Wii console.
Though there is an advantage to get connected Game Boy Advance as well as an e-Reader from the Nintendo Wii having GameCube ports but still you will need accessories to be able to use this and for the Game Boy Advance you will need a Game Boy Advance Cable. Besides there are other problems for the incompatibility of the console with the GameCube Action Replay feature and that is because the firmware has been updated to 3.0. Wii is also incompatible with GameCube composite video, component video cables and S-Video due to it using a proprietary port. It is definitely an advantage to play GameCube games on the console for those who have previously bought a GameCube before the Wii and it is an added benefit to an already excellent gaming system.

Play Classic Games on Your Wii Through Emulators and the Homebrew Channel
by webmaster on Jul.22, 2010, under Wii
What is the homebrew channel?
The homebrew channel can do many things with your Wii console, including watching movies, listen to music and play games. Besides that you can use emulators. You can emulate old super Nintendo entertainment system, Nintendo entertainment system , Sega genesis, etc… roms to play them on your Wii. The homebrew channel is not an official channel, you can’t download it through the Wii store. You can get the channel by modifying your Wii. This can be done in two ways, the oldest method is the zelda twilight mod, this method isn’t used anymore by many people because it requires zelda twilight princess. The second method is called Homebreware, an easy guide to modify your Wii without voiding the warranty.
What is an emulator?
With an emulator you can play older games from other consoles. There are several emulators, for example you can play the super Nintendo entertainment system game super mario all stars on your Wii console. These games called roms will be played from your sd card on which you load the roms in a folder called roms through a sd card writer.
Using an emulator?
First of all you need to get the correct emulator for the correct system, you can not play Gameboy color games with a Nintendo 64 emulator. If you have found the right emulator, type the name into Google and find a website where you can download the emulator.
Most games are played with a Gamecube controller or a Wii classic controller.
Wii emulator examples.
There is a Wii Super Nintendo entertainment system emulator called Snes9x GX which I like a lot, it plays all the games in full speed, another useful emulator in my opinion is Wii64 which can emulate the powerful Nintendo 64.

However, the Nintendo Wii does not include everything you need to maximize your gaming experience, and that is why there are several must-have Nintendo Wii accessories.
The Nintendo Wii comes with one remote controller – the Wiimote – and one Nunchuk, which is a motion sensing analog controller that attaches to the wireless Wiimote. If you want to enjoy the head-to-head action of the great games included with Wii Sports, then the first of the Nintendo Wii accessories that you should consider is an extra controller. The Wii can accommodate four controllers, so fitting a second into the system is not a problem.

The Nintendo Wii is compatible not only with games designed for the Wii, but for Nintendo GameCube titles as well. If you do not have a GameCube controller already – your existing GameCube controllers are compatible – then one of the more useful Nintendo Wii accessories is a GameCube controller. Not only will that allow you to play a wider variety of games, you can also play the classic games that are downloadable to your Wii system. However, you need more than the GameCube controller to fully replicate the features of the GameCube games. Without a GameCube memory card, your progress through many of the games will be lost each time you shut down your Wii. A GameCube memory card will allow you to save your progress and play at your leisure. Again, if you have existing GameCube memory cards they are compatible with the Wii.
Speaking of classic Nintendo games, the Wii system’s Internet capabilities make it possible to download those classic games of Nintendo’s past. Downloads are not free, however, and Wii Points are the currency of choice. Therefore, one of the more useful Nintendo Wii accessories is a prepaid Wii Points card that will allow you to easily browse and purchase many of your favorite games from all of the Nintendo predecessors. However, if you plan to purchase many of these classic games it is only a matter of time before you fill the 512mb memory of your Wii system. Purchase a 1 gigabyte SD memory card and you will have all the room you need with plenty to spare!

In order to take advantage of the game downloading abilities, as well as other aspects of the Wii system’s menu functions, you need access to the Internet. That makes the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector one of the most important Nintendo Wii accessories. With wireless Internet access in place, you can use your Wii to play games, surf the Web, and coming soon: head to head virtual play!
All of these Nintendo Wii accessories add up to form an impressive array of gaming and entertainment capabilities, but without a component video adapter the picture quality of the Wii might fail to reach its potential, especially if you have a High Definition television. With the adapter in place you will enjoy a crystal clear picture which will enhance your Wii – and your Nintendo Wii accessories – so much more. And one more thing: invest in some rechargeable batteries in order to keep those wireless remote controls at peak performance!
